2 Chainz, MC Lyte, John Legend & More Honored At The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball
John Legend was awarded the humanitarian award while Hip-hop pioneers MC Lyte and Doug E. Fresh were both given lifetime achievement awards.
2 Chainz earned the street solider award for encouraging young voters as a spokesperson for the Hip-Hop Caucus’ “Respect My Vote!” campaign. Actress Rosario Dawson won the vanguard award for her work as chairman of the Voto Latino organization.
An idea originally launched by Russell Simmons brought Hip-Hop’s legends and current stars together to honor a few that are responsible for what the genre is today. The evening was hosted by LaLa Anthony and Terrence J and may arguable be the most star-studded event of last weekend.
